Privacy Policy

HypeMe is operated by Sharddha Jimmy Patel (trading as Maruti Technologies) (“we”). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. HypeMe is for people aged 18 and over in India.
What we collect
- How you sign in — your email address, and if you use Continue with Google, an account identifier Google gives us (we don’t receive your Google password, contacts or anything else). If you sign in by mobile number, that number.
- Date of birth — checked once at sign-up to confirm you’re 18 or older. We don’t store it; we only record that you passed the check.
- Your handle — the public name your link uses. Never your real name.
- What you send and receive — anonymous messages, replies, Vibe Check votes, communities you join, and any hint clue you choose to write.
- Hint purchases — what you bought and when. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we never see your card or UPI details.
- Safety and abuse data — reports you file or that are filed about you, blocks, and a one-way hash of your network address used only to limit code requests.
- One sign-in cookie. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Anonymity
When you send an anonymous message or vote, the recipient never sees who you are. We store who sent it so we can act on abuse reports and meet legal obligations. The only things a recipient can learn are the hints you explicitly allowed on that message. We may disclose a sender’s identity only when required by Indian law, for example a valid order from a court or law-enforcement agency.
Why we use it
- To run HypeMe: sign-in, delivering messages, Vibe Checks, hints.
- To keep it safe: every message is checked by an automated AI safety filter before it’s delivered, and we act on reports, including suspending accounts reported as under 18.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of sign-in codes and payments.
- To process purchases and refunds.
We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database) — servers may be located outside India.
- Anthropic — runs the AI safety check on messages and writes optional share captions from Vibe Check results.
- Google — verifies your identity if you choose Continue with Google.
- Resend — sends sign-in codes by email.
- MSG91 — sends sign-in codes by SMS.
- Razorpay — processes payments.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. When you do, your email, number, Google link, handle, messages, votes, replies and hints are erased immediately. Purchase records are kept as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, and safety reports as long as needed to act on them, linked only to an anonymous placeholder.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask to access, correct or erase your data, and to have a grievance addressed. You can delete your account any time from Account. For anything else, contact our Grievance Officer (see Contact). If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app first.
